new beginnings

The semester has come to an end, the final grades are posted and I have been allowed to enter my 3rd year of vet school but instead of finally finishing school at 32 I decided to do some crazy new fangled thing...

I am going to get my MPH next fall - oOooOoo - what is an MPH you might ask... because this is what most people ask.

It does not mean miles per hour or midgets peeing, hot! or weapons of mass destruction. No- it stands for masters in public health.
I am taking off a year to pursue yet another degree which should hopefully help me get a job doing more crazy international work with diseases.

By the way, I don't know if most of you know this or not - but I am going to Egypt next Thursday for 2 months. I am going to be subtyping avian influenza strains and starting up a new PCR assay at a naval base in Cairo.

So if I have any down time - which may be more than normal considering I don't speak a word of Arabic and I am not allowed out at night (is this how animals feel?) - I will be posting some Egyptian events over the next couple of weeks.

I am actually really scared about going over there - it is going to be 90+ weather and I am not allowed to show my arms, boobs, or muffin tops. I have spent the last 3 days shopping for flowing light weight fabrics with long sleaves... do they exist? Not in Madison's multicultural fashion world, which was a shock to me.

So I may just take a couple rolls of tp with me and wrap up before I get off the plane. I have been practicing this late at night - the muffins are the hardest to coverup because the paper keeps bunching right at the waistline.

Maybe I should employ this look though - and only put the tp strategically around one arm and my crotch.

Anyway - Happy Summer! I am so happy - It is finally hot out!!!
